The program is founded on the principle that individuals who have personally navigated the cancer journey—Cancer Victors and Survivors—possess unique lived wisdom, resilience, and empathy that can meaningfully support others facing similar challenges. AHAM SANJEEVANI seeks to harness this experiential strength by empowering such individuals to become Cancer Community Leaders, capable of offering emotional, informational, and navigational support at the grassroots level, while also contributing to broader awareness and advocacy efforts across regions.
Through structured training, guided engagement, and ongoing capacity building, the program aims to transform personal healing journeys into collective community action, thereby strengthening India’s cancer care ecosystem from within the community itself.
Objectives
The primary objectives of the AHAM SANJEEVANI – The Changemakers Program are as follows:
1.To Develop Cancer Community Leaders
To identify, train, and empower Cancer Victors and Survivors to serve as community-based leaders who can advocate for holistic cancer care, early awareness, emotional well-being, and patient support within their local contexts.
2.To Strengthen Community-Based Support Systems
To build sustainable networks of peer-led support that address gaps in emotional care, information dissemination, and access to guidance for cancer patients and their families, particularly at the grassroots level.
3.To Enable Structured Capacity Building and Self-Reliance
To provide members with a well-designed training curriculum that equips them with knowledge, communication skills, leadership capabilities, and ethical frameworks required for effective community engagement, while also promoting dignity and self-reliance through provision of an honorarium.
4.To Foster Awareness, Advocacy, and Holistic Care Practices
To promote awareness around cancer prevention, early detection, treatment navigation, survivorship, and integrative care practices, thereby encouraging informed decision-making and improved health outcomes.
5.To Create a Sustainable, Scalable Community Movement
To nurture a growing, self-sustaining movement of survivor-led changemakers who act as ambassadors of hope, resilience and collective responsibility within the cancer care landscape.
AHAM SANJEEVANI – The Changemakers Program represents a shift from beneficiary-led support to survivor-led leadership. By transforming lived experience into purposeful action, the program enables Cancer Community Leaders to become catalysts for change—ensuring that no individual facing cancer feels isolated, unheard, or unsupported.
This initiative is more than a program; it is a movement rooted in compassion, dignity, and shared responsibility. As AHAM SANJEEVANI continues to grow through strategic partnerships and community engagement, it strengthens the vision of an inclusive and empowered cancer care ecosystem—one where healing extends beyond treatment, and every survivor becomes a source of strength for others.
Through collaboration, commitment, and collective action, AHAM SANJEEVANI aspires to leave no one behind.
We encourage our beneficiaries to become members of Aham Sanjeevani Program. We train them to practice the tools that they have learnt on an everyday basis and also to share their knowledge with others in the community. Through this program we would:
- Create Cancer Community Leaders.
- Create a Community of Cancer Victors, Survivors and Patients who can extend their support to others in the war against cancer.
- They will thus become the future of Holistic Cancer Care and provide awareness, knowledge and care at a mass level.
